Tools and products developed for the energy industry

Over the last twenty years, Flare Solutions has developed a wide range of tools and products to tackle the information management challenges of the energy industry.

These include Tracker, for business processes, Transmittals, to ensure auditable movements of business data, and Lessons, to ensure lessons learned are captured and implemented.

Tracker

Tracker enables business and technical processes to be clearly defined and made visible, simplifying effective process tracking, while capturing critical information and knowledge, such as project stage gate deliverables and well lifecycle documentation.

Business processes can be implemented quickly and verified for accuracy and completeness. Users can use Tracker to confirm which process steps they are responsible for, who is responsible for other steps, and whether they have been completed. Standard templates and guidance can be uploaded to the system, to increase process reliability and standardisation in a manner that allows for the complexity of energy industry documentation and information capture.

A fully web-based system, Tracker is ideal for geographically dispersed teams needing to capture key project deliverables, decision support documents, and technical or project reviews. Tracker enables a full ‘story’ of a project to be built up, supporting knowledge management and exchange, should the project be paused, and then restarted.

Transmittals

Transmittals tracks the movement of information into, out of, and between business units in an organisation, often on physical media.

With full capabilities for workflow alerting, reporting, analysis, and auditing, Transmittals supports all the usual functions in the transmittal process, including transmittal generation, dispatch, tracking, and generation of certificates of receipt.

Transmittals is fully web-based, and allows for granular approval management, automated government and partner reporting, and notification of deadline breaches. Graphical and text-based summary reports can also be generated for inclusion in management reporting.

Lessons

Learning from experience is a fundamental part of the growth of every organisation. However, lessons are not learned until action is taken, and the lesson is fully implemented in the organisation. The Lessons tool captures lessons and learnings from past experiences, including action tracking, recording of approvals, implementation, and close out.

The Lessons tool provides a central repository in which all lessons learned information is stored, enabling capture of lessons at the organisation, business unit, asset, or team level. It offers a flexible review process, including management of communications with those involved in the review and approval process, supported by configurable notification workflows. Lessons may be categorised according to organisation-specific requirements, and are fully searchable using the capabilities of Flare’s Sirus Platform.

Lessons may also be classified by impact, allowing prioritisation of implementation activity according to urgency or overall benefit.
